I had missed this NYT article yesterday. I learned about it while reading Haaretz this morning. It’s a detailed account of how Netanyahu manipulated Trump by presenting him with an extremely optimistic scenario. I’m a big fan of one of the authors of the article: Ronen Bergman, Tel Aviv. He writes the best pieces on Israel for the NYT. He’s a great investigative journalist.

A very interesting piece in Jewish Currents—a progressive Jewish magazine. They have excellent articles. I highly recommend this magazine.

In a Spanish high school, we learned about the archaic form of Spanish spoken by the Sephardic Jewish community in Turkey. They lived in the Iberian Peninsula during the Islamic rule and were expelled when the Catholic Kings took back the whole peninsula (Reconquista). Note: Christians expelled Jews while Muslims didn't.

I don't want to live in a binary world, where you either inflict pain and death on others, or you are on the receiving end of violence.

We are finally seeing the ugliness of the Western world. Long hidden to the citizens of the Global North. We were told that our governments upheld universal values such as press freedom and human rights. It was all lies.

Palestinians in Gaza have opened the eyes of so many. They have shown us who our political leaders really are. Gaza is the window into our future. Punish people who committed the worst crimes against humanity or we’ll share the fate of Gazans.

I highly recommend an excellent documentary, Coup 53 (2019).It’s about how the British spy agency MI6 and the American CIA orchestrated a coup against the democratically elected and incorruptible Mossadegh. CIA propped Shah’s regime and helped create an oppressive secret police.

It’s a must-watch film to understand what’s unfolding. Western powers hate to have democratic leaders in oil-rich countries. They much prefer greedy and corrupt autocrats.

There’s no shared Western civilization between Europe and the US. Europe and the US are so different in mores, religiosity and tolerance for violence. By Western civilization, does Rubio mean “white people first” “we can kill any non-whites at will”? If this is the case, it’s easy to understand why the US obsesses about immigration. The increase of new citizens who do not believe in the white man’s impunity is gravely inconvenient.
